I went to see "How I Learned to Drive" starring Elizabeth Reaser of Twilight fame and Norbert Leo Butz (who I will always love from the musical "The Last Five Years").  Great play-kept my hooked.  Highly recommend!

I went to Coralie Bickford-Smith's talk at the Type Director's club.  Coralie is the designer of the clothbound Penguin Classics I adore so much.  She was funny and interesting...I think I want to be her new best friend!

I went to see Alan Rickman in Seminar on Broadway a couple of weeks ago.  He was amazing, as usual.  Got his autograph, too!

Have I really not done anything since July?  Horrible.  Well, speaking of horrible, in August I went to see Tricks the Devil Taught Me.  I left during intermission.

In other news, I have started grad school at Columbia and am taking an improv class.  I'm busy but it's fun!

I went to see the CSC play, Unnatural Acts last week.  It's about the investigation of the homosexual "subculture" at Harvard in the 1920s.  Fascinating and intense.  Brilliant acting.

I was up close to RAUL ESPARZA for 4 hours last week.  I had an amazing time.  Read the NYT article HERE.

Went to a Darren Criss concert at Irving Plaza tonight.  It was...disappointing.  While he's been around for awhile now, I know him from Glee and wanted him to sing songs from Glee.  Didn't happen.  He sang his old stuff and I just wasn't interested in it.

Busy weekend with my mom in town!  We took in two talks at the 92Y, two movies, a play, and the Harry Potter exhibition.

At the 92nd Street Y we enjoyed "Keith Olbermann and Friends: On James Thurber" and "Bono and The Edge in Conversation with Jordan Roth."  Both were very good.  It was interesting going in knowing nothing about James Thurber and still having an enjoyable time learning about him and his work as a satirist and cartoonist-especially through the eyes of the great Keith Olbermann.  Bono and The Edge were also awesome-they talked about Spider-Man and their careers in U2 with charm and wit.

We also went to see Harry Potter: The Exhibition.  It had really cool props and costumes from the movies on display as you traveled from one "set" to another.

I had the great pleasure of seeing, "Jewels" performed by the NYC Ballet this Friday.  Jewels is comprised of Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds...all very different and beautiful.  I'm not sure which was my favorite, I was transfixed by them all.

This weekend I saw "Reading Under the Influence," about a book club leader who "sells" her book club to Lifetime.  Hilarity ensues.  It's a cute concept and it made me laugh...that's all you can ask for, really.  Added bonus, Barbara Walsh of "Company" was in it, so I felt like I was in the presence of someone famous.

Also went to see the NYC Ballet perform three ballets: Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, For the Love of Duke, and the West Side Story Suite.  All good, but not great.  My favorite was For the Love of Duke, bringing me back to my Jazz Choir days with such songs as "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."

Went to see a darling play at the Arclight theater called "First Prize" about the progression of a concert pianist's career.  The actors were fantastic, playing multiple parts.

April 21, 2011
I had 4th tier tickets to see New York City Opera's Defying Gravity: The Music of Stephen Schwartz. I went for Raul Esparza but Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber were also there.  I might have had horrible seats, but I still heard some great songs from the musicals such as "Godspell," "Pippen," and "Wicked."

April 9, 2011
I went to the New York Philharmonic's performance of Company starring Neil Patrick Harris.  It also included the likes of Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Patti Lupone, and Christina Hendricks.  While it wasn't Raul Esparza's Company, it was still wonderfully entertaining and I enjoyed every minute of it.  It is truly one of my favorite musicals of all time-and now I can say I've seen it staged!

The Motherf**ker with the Hat was a great play.  It was really, really funny and had a great cast of actors, including my mom's favorite, Bobby Cannavale.  The set design was alo really cool.  I'm going to see it again with my mom in June.  Looking forward to it!

April 2, 2011
Went to see Born Yesterday.  Great play with amazing acting.  I, of course, went for Robert Sean Leonard, but the whole cast was great.  And the story was very interesting-very "My Fair Lady" meets something politically corrupt.

March 22, 2011
Went to see Catch Me If You CanIt was very good.  No show-stoppers like with How to Succeed...but it did have some great numbers.  Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal) has a beautiful voice and so does Norbert Leo Butz, who I've loved since I heard him on The Last Five Years cast recording.

March 12, 2011
Went to the Edward Hopper exhibit at the Whitney Museum.  Read more about it at my Blog.

I saw two shows this weekend, Arcadia and How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.  How to Succeed was wonderful-Daniel Radcliffe was adorable and an incredibly talented performer.  Definitely go see it, you will be entertained.  Arcadia...let's just say I left at intermission (which has never happened to me before).  It's a really intellectual play and maybe I was just too tired, but I couldn't follow the plot (and after awhile I didn't care to).  I love Raul Esparza, but even he couldn't save this one for me.

As a member of the fourth ring society, I went to see
Mozartiana, Prodigal Son and Stars and Stripes

I may have come for Alan Rickman, but the whole production of
BAM's John Gabriel Borkman was amazing.
